Pork-in-the-Pines, July 23-25th, 2010

The 1st EVER Pork-in-the-Pines event was a huge success! The 3 day BBQ competition & music festival was located in Wye Park in downtown Cle Elum. This Pacific Northwest Barbecue Association event attracted competitors from all over Washington. It's unique to other events because it's a rib only competition and more of a festival with a beer garden, kid's activities, 13 live bands including the Dusty 45s, the Beatniks, and Hit Explosion. Trailhead was a proud sponsor and we were grateful to be a part of it! Here are a few pics from this year's event:

Vendors from all over the northwest travelled to Cle Elum to grill everything from ribs, pulled pork sandos, turkey legs, etc. At Coyote Catering you could even order deep fried hot dogs!

Glondo's Sausage served mild & hot italian sausage & bratwurst with sauerkraut, grilled red peppers & onions.

We aren't kidding when we say there were a lot of ribs!

Sampling hot sauces in 90 degree heat was a challenge! We opted for the award winning Honey Chipotle Hot Sauce from Zane & Zack's (World Famous Honey Co.) Sam (pictured above) roasts his own jalapenos for chipotle. The company is named after his 2 boys, Zane & Zack. You can find their childhood pics on the bottles. You can find a whole list of their products & recipes on their website.

Perfecting the presentation right before the rib competition.

Left Hand Smoke took home the Grand Prize this year. They are one step closer to their goal: to compete in the Jack Daniel's World Championship Invitational BBQ Competition in Lynchburg Tennessee. Good luck!!

Enjoying a Glondo's bratwurst at the Suncadia booth.

Rusted Soul serenaded the crowd all afternoon!

Beer & Wine garden was a popular way for the adults to cool down.

For the kiddos, it was the dunk tank, sprinkler's and shaved ice!

Other fun kid's activities were ride the bull, and a ton of arts & crafts!
